Murieta Posse is a SASS-affiliated cowboy action shooting club. Matches are scored by "total time," rather than "rank points". They also provide an "Open" category that allows a shooter to use a different SASS shooting category on different stages. You can shoot Traditional
on Stage 1, Gunfighter on Stage 2 and some other category on any of the other stages. If you want to shoot a stage or two as a "Gunfighter" or "Duelist" but not commit to that style for the entire match, sign up under the "Open" category.
Matches are usually 6 stages. Shooters should bring 100 rifle, 100
pistol and 50 shotgun rounds to be prepared for reshoots.
Cost: The regular match fee is $15 dollars. A $5 discount is given to Folsom Shooting Club (Sac Valley Shooting Center) members. Juniors (under 18) shoot free.
New Shooters: New shooters should be familiar with the SASS rules, gun safety and the operation of their own guns. If you have never shot a CAS match before, you need a 1-2 hour orientation. We prefer to schedule this orientation on the Saturday before the match, although in emergencies we can do it the morning of the shoot. Please schedule in advance.
